About what we leave

What We Leave is a non-fiction book about environmental issues, what causes them and what people can do to be part of the solution. Below is the summary that can be found on the first page of the book, and the front and back cover and quotes from three acclaimed readers.

Our planet has fallen ill, but what does that mean? What exactly is causing this illness? And, most importantly, how can we take care of our planet? At fifteen years old, Jens Peterson set out to find answers to these three vital questions that anyone, no matter where they’re from or how young or old they are could understand. What We Leave is the result of that journey. There is hope in the way each and every one of us can take care of this planet, and that hope is shared in this book.

About the author

Hi, my name is Jens Peterson, and I’m the 19 year-old author of What We Leave: A Caretaker’s Guide to an Ill Planet.

I was born and raised in Jericho, Vermont. I graduated as the top English student in my high school class (Mt. Mansfield Union High school) and am currently studying at Clark university. I developed an early passion for the natural world from a childhood of hiking, skiing, and watching the wildlife in the stream that runs by my house. This childhood passion developed into writing What We Leave as an effort to combat climate change.
